Well, I don’t know why it’s light on the SMT
Yesterday’speek atShin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblemraised as many questions as it did fanboy squeals. A newblog today(with somewhat differing translations betweenSiliconeraandMystic of Traduko Soft) answers and raises further questions.
It comes from producer Shinjiro Takada, known for theDevil Survivorseries, and is for what in the west is being referred to as, “Shin Megami Tensei & Fire Emblem Crossover Project,” but in Japan loses theSMTname for “Illusory Revelations ♯ Fire Emblem.”

And while theSMTbranding seems absent, so too does aFire Emblemfeel. Takada explains that, “if the development of this title conforms with the original [series], then Intelligent Systems should handle it. If Atlus are going to develop it, then it would be best to make it into the kind of title that Atlus specializes in” (with a slightlyalternate translation here).
While it doesn’t seem to be explicitly anSMTgame, it does seem like it will skew towards Atlus’ style — “Realistic characters who suffer from many conflicts and worries in modern-day Japan” — rather than be a more rote, by the numbers crossover. Takada notes we might feel theFire Emblemessence more strongly in further updates.
