Like many other games in the franchise,Sonic Superstarsis chock full of secrets to uncover. You may have stumbled onto aweird, floating Fruitor discovered a giant blue ring floating several feet off the ground. Likely among the rarest encounters inSonic Superstars, however, are with gold enemies. you’re able to find them hiding within the stages, and defeating them offers an impressive reward.

Gold Enemies are special enemy types inSonic Superstars. They take many forms, but are typically a common enemy made of sparkly gold. From what I can tell, they don’t do anything different. They behave just like any other enemy of the same variety: Bats fly around, and Crabs keep shuffling. The only difference is the stuff these badniks are made of. I’m not yet sure if there are multiple per stage or just one hidden away, but it seems like it’s the latter. The first one I found was a golden bat early in Pinball Carnival Zone Act 1 — they won’t all be that easy.

What do you get for defeating a golden enemy inSonic Superstars?

Golden enemies, when popped, award you with a whopping 100 Medals to use inSonic Superstars. It’s an absurd amount compared to the Special Stages, which offer three or five Medals each. Defeating gold enemies will help you shore up your Medal count by leaps and bounds, but their rarity does make it a somewhat unreliable method. There are plenty of ways to earn Medals at a faster pace, such as completing those aforementioned Special Stages. If you want to earn more Medals and fast, be sure to check out our guide on how to do so.

It doesn’t appear that golden enemies offer much more than a mass quantity of Medals, but you’re able to earn an achievement for finding them all. Beating all the gold enemies in every stage rewards you with the ‘Gold Enemy Hunter’ achievement, and that might be worth something for you trophy collectors out there.
