Since Witherhoard’s arrival, Area Denial Frame grenade launchers are all the rage in Destiny 2 — so naturally, everyone wanted a VS Velocity Baton on day one.
Many Destiny 2 players are sleeping on Vesper’s Host with an amazing collection of weapons and perks up for grabs. Included in the list is theVS Velocity Batongrenade launcher, with some all-round great rolls available to collect.
The VS Velocity Baton is a Void Area Denial Frame special grenade launcher with the Bray Legacy Origin Trait, which grants ability energy on kill for your nearly-ready ability. Here’s a look at the grenade launcher’s perks with an outline of the rolls you should be chasing.
What is the VS Velocity Baton god roll?
VS Velocity Baton PvE god roll
Like its older cousin grenade launcher, theVS Chill Inhibitor, this weapon has a great set of perks to choose from. The safe pick isRepulsor BraceandDestabilizing Rounds, which works brilliantly in a Void/Prismatic setup.
Kills spread Volatile to nearby enemies; follow-up explosive Volatile kills will grant you a Void Overshield. Given the buffs to Void Overshield in Episode: Revenant, this is a perfect pick even in a neutral sandbox.
Another roll might top it, however:DemolitionistandAttrition Orbs. Many guardians forgot about Attrition Orbs as the perk — occasionally spawns an Orb of Power on hit — isn’t great on the surface. However, the orb spawn proc’s based on the number of damage instances, and with an Area Denial Frame grenade launcher, there are many in a single shot.
With Demolitionist and the Bray Legacy trait topping off your ability energy, this Velocity Baton roll is amazing in grenade builds. We’ll see if Bungie makes a change to Attrition Orbs, because three Orbs from a single target is way too good!

Area Denial Frame launchers aren’t amazing in PvP, but I’m going withUnrelentingfor a little health bonus on kill with the Velocity Baton. I’m pairing it withHarmony(and a strong primary weapon) for a damage boost after switching weapons.
Use this roll in objective-based matches like Iron Banner or Capture in Crucible. Lock down a capture zone and deny the enemy access through a chokepoint — lest they want to take extra damage through your projectiles.
How to get VS Velocity Baton in Destiny 2
VS Velocity Baton is available by completing theVesper’s Host dungeon, introduced in Episode: Revenant. Specifically, you’ll need to complete the first (Vesper Station) and last encounter (The Corrupted Puppeteer) to drop this grenade launcher.
This weapon cannot be crafted, but it can be enhanced. Once you get the roll you’re chasing,enhance the weapontounlock upgraded versions of the perks.
