Valoranthas taken thetactical FPS genreby storm ever since its release in 2020. As one of Riot’s newer IPs after theirwildly popular MOBALeague of Legends, it follows the new Account system that Riot put in place. This new Account system involves having only one account across multiple games, reducing the clutter and need for multiple accounts. That being said, it is definitely a good idea to learn how to change Riot names as it’ll be the name the player uses on allRiot Games.

Valorant: How To Change Account Name
Changing an account name inValorantis simple, but not done through theValorantclient. This can make things a little confusing. In order to change aValorantname follow these steps:
UnlikeLeague of Legendssummoner names,Valorantnames are tied to a Riot Account and arecompletely free of chargefor all players. The main issue about changingValorantnames from one to another is the one-month wait period that happens each time, this however ispretty common practice for online games. Make sure when changing names players ensure that they’ve chosen a name that they’d be happy with for at least that month period.

Another neat feature of changingValorantnames is the ability to change the tag (i.e the # behind the main name). This is a unique identifier for players which can also be changed to whatever the player prefers. This also allows for multiple copies of the sameValorantname to exist at the same time, which opens up more possibilities for players to share the same name. That means that a player can share the same name, as long as their tag is different and vice versa. For example, in thisversion of Riot’s naming system, if GameRant#NA is currently taken GameRant#OCE would still be available to use for another player. This also works with tags, so for example, if GameRant#Rant is taken, GameRant#Game is fine. Overall it’s a really great system that allows for multiple copies of a name to exist at one time without compromising their uniqueness.
