The International 2023, TI12, groups are out! In an oddly last-minute announcement, Valve revealed the four groups for TI12. As per usual, groups aren’t always balanced and there is a certain one that looks deadlier than the rest..

Who are the favorites of each group?

TI in general is always unpredictable. But it’s always safe to assume that those who dominated the entire year would lead the way.

In Group A, the obvious favorites are Team Spirit. The young TI champions have been killing their Dota 2 performances recently, closing the DreamLeague Season 21 finals with a 3-0 against Shopify Rebellion. They also bagged a major victory at the $15 million Riyadh Masters prior to that win.

Group B is the group of death - featuring a stacked lineup which makes it difficult to predict. In Group B, there are strong teams that can take on each other and any result won’t really be a total upset. Results-wise, the favorites of Group B fall to Team Liquid. They have been extremely consistent this year, only falling short during the grand finals.

There is no question for the next group. Group C is undoubtedly overwhelmed by Gaimin Gladiators' presence - the three-time Major champion of 2023. This Dota 2 giant has completely dominated the year and although they seem a little shaky going towards TI12, GG always performs when it matters.

And last but not least, Group D. Although a lot of eyes are locked on the newly partnered PSG Quest, the favorites of the group have to go to Tundra Esports. This is a lineup of TI champions and on top of that, they are now headlined by Topson, the two-time TI champion who is visibly hungry for another Aegis.

TI12 sees an adjusted format that differs from the previous TIs. In Phase One of the Group Stage, we will see four groups with five teams each. Teams in each group will clash against each other in a BO2 series and the bottom team of each group will face elimination.

The remaining sixteen teams will then advance to Phase Two. This phase will pit teams to fight head-to-head in a BO3 series to determine the Main Bracket placement. No teams will be eliminated in Phase Two.
