Although the show is primarily a legal drama, Mickey Haller’s relationships, whether that be romantic or platonic, play an essential role in the storyline, and they’re bound to get more significant inThe Lincoln Lawyer season 4.
At end of The Lincoln Lawyer season 3, Mickey gets arrested for the murder of Sam Scales. The next season will show him going through the legal process as a defendant. Mickey will need to rely on his friends and family members as he goes through the most challenging situation he’s possibly ever been in. With thefull-time return of Maggie in The Lincoln Lawyer season 4, the show looks like it will finally change my opinion about Mickey and Maggie.

Their Careers Are A Big Barrier In Mickey & Maggie’s Relationship
Let me preface this with: I don’t hate Maggie, and I love Neve Campbell. I enjoy Maggie as a character because she’s strong-willed and interesting to watch. I like Mickey and Maggie as co-parents and friends because they work well together and put Hayley’s needs first. However, I have never thought they were a good couple because of Maggie’s criticisms of Mickey’s job.
Because their jobs are central to their identity and self-esteem,Maggie and Mickey need to support each other’s career paths to be a good couple. Unfortunately, Maggie has always come across as a little sanctimonious when it comes to Mickey’s work as a defense attorney.
She repeatedly devalues the role of defense attorneys in the criminal justice system and seems to perceive them as morally flawed. It’s frustrating to see her give Mickey so much flak for his job while completely ignoring the problems with her profession.
This is whyI liked Andy better as a partner for Mickey inThe Lincoln Lawyerseason 3. Even though she worked as a prosecutor, she understood that both the prosecution and defense were working towards the goal of upholding justice.
Maggie Getting More Insight Into Mickey’s Career In The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4 Will Hopefully Change Their Dynamic
Maggie Might Be Less Judgmental Of Mickey
However, it looks like The Lincoln Lawyer season 4 will change my mind about Mickey and Maggie’s relationship. Now that Mickey has been arrested for murder, Maggie will come back to help defend him, which should give her insight into why his job is important. She might be less judgmental now that she realizes how easy it is for someone to be wrongfully accused.
If Maggie tones down her holier-than-thou attitude about defense attorneys, I could actually see Mickey and Maggie being a great couple. Maggie seems to struggle with vulnerability, but it’s clear that she still has feelings for him, even if she doesn’t express them well. Meanwhile, Mickey has never entirely fallen out of love with Maggie. Hopefully, their dynamic will change for the better inThe Lincoln Lawyerseason 4 as she gets insight into his job.
