DOTA 2
News
TI13 will feature one of the lowest prize pools in the tournament history.
The grand annual Dota 2 tournament, The International 2024 (TI13), begins in two days! Sixteen of the world’s best Dota 2 teams have arrived in Copenhagen, Denmark for another journey to claim the Aegis of Champions. The lineup of players are confirmed, the schedule is revealed, almost all details are finalized. Except for the prize pool. So what is the current prize pool of The International 2024 accumulated so far?

The International 2024 (TI13) Prize Pool
The prize pool for The International 2024 was finalized at $2,602,164.
Why is TI13’s prize pool so low?
The prize pool begins at $1.6 million, a base prize pool funded by Valve. This base prize pool has been a tradition since the very first International. As usual, theCompendiumthat accompanies TI will contribute towards the final prize pool.
However, this year’s Compendium dropped just two weeks before TI 2024 begins, giving little to no room for fundraising. This is a much shorter window than the fundraising periods during the 2019-2021 era, which ranged from 102 to 138 days. Other than that, this year’s Compendium features no new shiny hats. This will inevitably discourage cosmetic lovers from making a Compendium purchase.

The wait is over, we finally got The International 2024 Compendium with some nice rewards! But don’t get too excited yet, they are not what everyone expected.

But that was also the peak of Dota 2’s prize pool as the following years, TI started featuring lesser and lesser prize money. TI 2022 had $17 million, TI 2023 had $3.3 million, and TI 2024 will likely offer lesser or a similar number.
