Brett Goldstein, who both co-wrote and starred as Roy Kent in Apple TV+‘sTed Lasso, recently shared his thoughts on the future of the hit soccer comedy. Though the series was originally planned to end with three seasons,Ted Lassoseason 4 was unexpectedly confirmedin March. The coming season is still in development, but Ted actor Jason Sudeikis confirmed that it would follow Ted as he returns to Kansas City to be with his family and begin coaching a women’s soccer team. DespiteTed Lassoseason 4’s renewal, the future of the show beyond this season has remained uncertain.
While speaking onJimmy Kimmel Live!, Brett Goldstein was asked if he really thought theending ofTed Lassoseason 3would be the final season of the show. He couldn’t speak definitively, but Goldstein did share some encouraging comments aboutTed Lasso’s future.

“We did all cry, and we did all hug, but I also think, if I’m honest, a lot of us when we were hugging said ‘we’ll come back, won’t we?’ I felt 90% - I can’t give you the numbers - I felt like we’d come back, but I didn’t know.”
Kimmel then asked Goldstein ifTed Lassoseason 4 would be the final installment of the show, and he pointed out that the series is popular enough to be continued indefinitely.
“I think that’s a conversation for Apple and I say that because someone from Apple is pointing a sniper rifle at me as you ask that question. I think we’d love to do it forever, but I think there’s a limit…”
Goldstein’s comments are nowhere near an official confirmation, and any definitive word on whetherTed Lassoseason 5 ever happens is a very long way away. That being said,Goldstein’s comments are a promising sign for the future ofTed Lassobeyond season 4. There’s clearly still a desire and passion for the series, and as long as it remains popular, that could meanTed Lassocould last a very long time indeed.
What Brett Goldstein’s Comments Mean For Ted Lasso Season 4 & Beyond
There’s Clearly Still Interest In Continuing The Show From The Creators & Stars Of Ted Lasso
Hearing from stars of popular shows who want those series to continue is rather common, but Brett Goldstein’s comments aboutTed Lassocarry a bit more weight. Goldstein is one of the show’s main actors, but he’s also a writer and executive story editor forTed Lasso.Goldstein’s position among the cast and crew ofTed Lassomeans that his hopes for the show’s continuation could actually prove to hold water. Goldstein has given us an insight into what the creative minds behind the series are thinking, and they clearly wantTed Lassoto go on.
If Goldstein is indicative of how the other creators and stars ofTed Lassofeel about the series, season 5 could actually happen. There seems to still be quite a bit of passion and enthusiasm surrounding the show, which could help it retain its quality in new seasons, even if it has surpassed its original three-season plan. One of the most important parts ofTed Lasso’s formula is its earnestness and genuine passion for kindness, and Goldstein’s comments indicate that the writers are nowehere near running out of either.
Our Take On Brett Goldstein’s Desire To Continue Ted Lasso “Forever”
I, for one, would never complain about getting moreTed Lasso, but I think the series has to be careful about how it continues. The series finale of any show is one of the most important episodes it will ever produce. Agood series finale can save an entire show, while abad finale can ruin a great series’ legacy.Ted Lasso’s season 3 finale was a great example of how to end a series on a high note: it was the highest-rated episode of the entire showonIMDb.
ContinuingTed Lassobeyond season 4 risks ruining its legacy as one of the best and most popular sports comedies ever made.If the quality starts to peter off afterTed Lassoseason 4, yet Apple continues to renew it due to its popularity, that would be a real shame. Goldstein actually touched on this idea in his interview, as he mentioned that there was a limit to the show. While I would like to seeTed Lassocontinue, I just hope the creators know when to end things and are capable of giving us a conclusion as satisfying as season 3’s.
