Brett Goldstein, who both co-wrote and starred as Roy Kent in Apple TV+‘sTed Lasso, recently shared his thoughts on the future of the hit soccer comedy. Though the series was originally planned to end with three seasons,Ted Lassoseason 4 was unexpectedly confirmedin March. The coming season is still in development, but Ted actor Jason Sudeikis confirmed that it would follow Ted as he returns to Kansas City to be with his family and begin coaching a women’s soccer team. While speaking onJimmy Kimmel Live!, Brett Goldstein was asked if he really thought theending ofTed Lassoseason 3would be the final season of the show. He couldn’t speak definitively, but Goldstein did share some encouraging comments aboutTed Lasso’s future.
“We did all cry, and we did all hug, but I also think, if I’m honest, a lot of us when we were hugging said ‘we’ll come back, won’t we?’ I felt 90% - I can’t give you the numbers - I felt like we’d come back, but I didn’t know.”
Kimmel then asked Goldstein ifTed Lassoseason 4 would be the final installment of the show, and he pointed out that the series is popular enough to be continued indefinitely.
“I think that’s a conversation for Apple and I say that because someone from Apple is pointing a sniper rifle at me as you ask that question. I think we’d love to do it forever, but I think there’s a limit…”
Goldstein’s comments are nowhere near an official confirmation, and any definitive word on whetherTed Lassoseason 5 ever happens is a very long way away.
