Streaming scrims have been a hot topic at the LTA North. A few days later, we’ll have the first LTA scrims streamed today.
On the second day of the LTA North, Gabriël “Bwipo” Rau, FlyQuest’s top laner, expressed his feelings on streaming scrims in a post-match interview. Bwipo talked about the lack of interest from other teams in streaming some scrims to fans and how that reflects in their gameplay in the league.
Seven out of eight teams didn’t want to scrim with us. We are the team to beat, we went to Worlds, we got to quarters, and we played avery intense Bo5with one of the best teams in the world. We want to show the rest of the league and our fans what makes us winners.
He added that the league needs to level up and improve its longevity, especially now that theLTA Northis emerging with theSouth.

Los Ratones and streaming scrims
When theLos Ratonesteam was assembled by the Twitch streamer Caedrel, he announced the majority of his scrims with other NLC teams would be streamed. This brought anew model of contentto League of Legends that didn’t exist before. The fans knew that scrims existed as a way for teams to test various things, but they weren’t exactly public.
Bwipo didn’t hide his inspiration for the Los Ratones model. “We stole their idea”, he said laughing. The top laner explained he thinks it’s a great idea to “engage the fans” and “in general, do better, because, for me, it’s the number one thing, it’s to do better in every single way”.

The first streamed scrim in the LTA North
His wishes were finally listened to. Thefirst LTA North streamed scrimis happening on Feb. 4 between FlyQuest and Cloud9. You can watch it on FlyQuest’s official Twitch channel at 11h45 a.m. PST / 2h45 p.m. EST / 9h45 p.m. CET.
If you’re a streamer and want to watch the scrims, you can! You only need to tag FlyQuest in your stream title. On X, the team even taggedIlha das Lendas, the biggest League of Legends content creator from Brazil, to co-stream their scrim.
Not all scrims
These statements caused mixed reactions from the public. Some people accused Bwipo of having “his ego on Mars” because they played well against Gen.G. Others think the LTA needs more people like Bwipo to speak up about the league’s problems. According to them, the league is not doing enough about the lack of interest from the public. Bwipo clarified on his X account that he never talked about “streaming everything”. He talked about managing some blocks per week to dedicate a scrim moment for the fans.
Streamed scrims could be an opportunity for early eliminated teams in Split 1 to keep fans' interest and engagement. “Teams who get knocked out before playoffs in Split 1 need to consider using streamed scrims as a way to stay in the public eye during the break for playoffs / First Stand. 5 weeks of being out of the spotlight hurts brand building with fans. Can still fit a break in that window”, one fan wrote onX. “When teams are forced to adapt to known strategies, it causes them to become better, meaning other teams become better to match”, anotherpersonwrote.
