The youngster said that paiN needs to bring their form in Brazil to international tournaments.

Gone are the days when paiN Gaming’s João “snow” Vinicius was called by the diminutive “snowzin,” a nickname given when he was still a talented kid aspiring to become a Counter-Strike pro in 2020.

Now, the 17-year-old is part of one of the best Brazilian CS2 teams in the world, and he isn’t afraid of getting into yelling at veterans in official matches. The player showed this abilities throughout IEM Cologne earlier this month, much to the amusement of the ever-popular Brazilian streamer Alexandre “Gaules” Borba, and told esports.gg that this is just how he is.

“I always had this trait [of yelling during matches]. It’s a very natural thing for me,” snow told esports.gg during BetBoom Dacha CS2 2024’s media day in Belgrade, Serbia. “Everybody always told me that the yelling helps and hypes them.”

paiN snow talks about expectations for BetBoom Dacha and the future

Even though part of the community regards paiN as the best Brazilian CS2 team at the moment — and snow himself agrees — the team has yet to reach the level where they can consistently beat the best teams in the world.

While the Brazilian community is happy with the results paiN players usually get internationally — good displays overall but not enough to win tournaments — snow said they’re aiming high.

“We have very high ambitions as we had really good results in Brazil,” snow said. “Our understanding is that we need to have similar results against Europeans, and we can’t change our playstyle nor have fear if we want to beat them.”

For BetBoom Dacha, paiN “obviously” want to reach the playoffs and then go from there, one game at the time, according to snow.
