On the day of the incident, Wolfe allegedly told authorities he and White had gone to a friend’s house where they smoked marijuana, per the affidavit. However, police say he later claimed he was not sure what he had smoked.

He then said he’d put a “paranormal meter” up against a statue, and claimed the “high reading” on the purported meter scared him, per the affidavit. Due to the purported high reading, he said he became scared someone would kill him, the affidavit alleges.

“Jared Wolfe stated he thought that Jane White (and the friends) were all trying to kill him and eat him, so he panicked and ran out of the house to retrieve his handgun from his vehicle," Sunbury police officer Trey Kurtz wrote in the affidavit.

Wolfe confessed to subsequently shooting White, according to Kurtz.
