Intel has confirmed the dates and format of the Intel World Open. Here’s all you need to know about the Rocket League and Street Fighter V tournaments.

The Intel World Open is back with new dates for its Rocket League and Street Fighter V tournaments. Qualifiers for both games will start in June with the regional finals taking place in July 2021.

What is the Intel World Open?

Intel had first announced the Intel World Open in 2019. The American Multinational corporation is working with the Olympics Committee to host this event. However, after the Olympics Committee rescheduled the Tokyo Olympics due to the coronavirus pandemic, Intel’s tournament also had to be pushed back.

The Intel World Open will feature $250,000 in prize money for each game and commence in June. The registration for Rocket League and Street Fighter V will start on May 15 and remain open till May 31. Intel will power all of the live Intel World Open events with the Intel® Core™ i7 gaming processor, as well as the PCs used in the broadcasts and complete backend infrastructure.

What is the format of the Intel World Open?

All players must be over 15 years of age to participate in Rocket League and above 16 years to take part in Street Fighter V. Players can compete in the Rocket League qualifiers from all platforms the game is available on. However, Street Fighter V players can participate only via PC and PS4, according to ESL.

The Intel World Open was initially to be a part of the lead-up to the Tokyo Games. The Olympics recently announced theOlympics Virtual Seriesin a bid to increase its appeal to the younger generation.
