Fringe just keeps getting better and better

The canonical storyline could have been straight out of Fringe season one ( apart from no references to The Pattern ) but watching the alt - squad investigate the suit give it a whole extra property . I would blithely learn a whole season of just the alternative - universe Fringe team solving shit against a backdrop of weird differences including the sudden pauperism for oxygen mask and the concern over molecular coherency .

The holy Holy Grail of series telly , it sometimes seems , is a police procedural that includes science - fabrication elements from sentence to time — and Fringe has tried to be this at various times . But the show ’s seldom matt-up closer to that nonsuch than it did last night , with the constabulary procedural just happen to take place in an alternate cosmos , with a psycho - killer whose abilities were , well , fringey . I wish we could sit everyone who take in CSI : New Jersey down and make them watch this show .

So the “ B ” plot was all about the incredibly flimsy brainwashing of Olivia to believe she ’s Fauxlivia . Olivia ’s seeing flashes of Walter and Peter . Alt - Charlie suspects the accuracy . And Walternate is making plan to convince Olivia to undergo a serial of test to see how she can cross between universes . Only Lincoln , the guy who can figure out all this other stuff and nonsense effortlessly , suspect nothing .

So we mentioned Walternate was starting to find more sympathetic — this little wince he get when Brad mentions using Peter ’s clothes was expectant . And so was his whole demented procedure about how he ’s still a scientist — just with a much orotund laboratory . And he wants to put Olivia into a sensory deprivation tank , just like the other Walter .

In the end , the “ A ” plot and the “ B ” plot of land collide nicely , with Olivia surviving the psychotic person killer ’s death lying in wait because she ’s not really from this macrocosm and she does n’t know the whole “ atomic number 8 mask ” communications protocol . Okay , so the concluding conniption where Imaginary Peter macks her and spell everything out for the deadening viewers was a piece ungainly , but still — this was overall awing .

So now Olivia is going to be pretending she ’s still fully brainwashed to be Fauxlivia — while Charlie ’s trying to figure out the Sojourner Truth , and alt - Broyles and Walternate watching for any sign that the brainwashing did n’t take . But first , we ’re back to “ our ” cosmos , where Fauxlivia is disquieted about getting see out too . Ca n’t expect !
