Fortnite announces the Emote Royale 2022 contest, where players can submit a dance or non-dance movement to be featured in-game.
Fortnite’s infamous Emote Royale contest has returned in 2022. Some long-time fans might remember the Boogie Down contest that occurred in 2018 at the height of Fortnite’s popularity. During that competition, Twitter user Populotus reigned supreme with what is now the Boogie Down emote, edging out fan-favorite Orange Shirt Kid. A few iterations have occurred since then, bringing us to the Emote Royale 2022 contest.
However, the catch this time around is you do not have to submit strictly a dance. Instead, your submission can be a non-dance movement. The winners will receive the emote and a cash prize. Here’s everything you should know about Emote Royale 2022.
Emote Royale 2022: How it works
Last time around, TikTok creator Michael Mejeh submitted what became the Verve emote in thefirst official Emote Royale contest. As a result, the emote made it into Fortnite for a limited time, and the winner collected 25,000 V-Bucks. For this edition, the stakes are higher, and the possibilities are endless.
Those interested in participating in the Emote Royale 2022 competition can submit a dance or non-dance movement to enter the contest. Additionally,Epic Gamesprovided a template of music that entrants should use to create their submissions. Finally, the winner will receive $2,500 and the emote for free.

How to participate in the contest
The rules to enter are simple, and there are two submission methods you can follow. You can share your emote concept on TikTok or Instagram Reels using #EmoteRoyale2022 and #contest. Furthermore, the Emote Royale 2022 competition is currently open for submissions as of June 17, 2025, at 10 AM ET and they will close on Aug 05, 2025, at 11:59 PM ET. Participants must be at least 13-years-old to enter.
