Tribute to Unreal Engine

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts has announced that they will present developer Epic Games with a BAFTA Special Award at this year’s E3 conference, which takes place in Los Angeles next month. The BAFTA will be accepted by Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney on June 12 at an event held at the London West Hollywood hotel.

Epic has been afforded the honour mostly for the creation of Unreal Engine, which has powered a plethora of popular video games since 1998, where it was first developed for FPS titleUnreal. No doubt the BAFTA is also awarded in part for global phenomenonFortnite, which has already proven itself one of the biggest video game releases of all-time.
