EDward Gaming vs Gen.G is the second match of Masters Madrid Swiss Stage Day 3, pitting China’s best against Pacific’s best.
EDward Gaming just can’t shake the Pacific league. The top team in VCT China faces another VCT Pacific team after taking down Paper Rex. It’s EDward Gaming vs. Gen.G to finish off Day 3 of theMasters MadridSwiss Stage.

EDward Gaming vs Gen.G - A battle of Asia’s two number one seeds in Masters Madrid
While this is the first year of China officially having a VCT league, EDward Gaming has been here for a long time. They’ve shown to be a top tier competitor, and have finallybroken their streak of losses against Paper Rex.
For Gen.G, they’ve struggled as an organization to find success in VALORANT. No matter what region they’ve played in. It finally seems like they have the recipe now, as theytook out an always dangerous LOUD teamin their first Masters Madrid series.
Both have very important wins over Paper Rex this year. Both come from an Asian region in VALORANT. It only makes sense that the two teams fight to see who remains undefeated in the Swiss Stage. This honestly could either way, but let’s hope for a banger series.

Map 1: Icebox
A very tight pistol round went the way of EDG. And after that, they were off to the racing. They gave zero ground to Gen.G, taking a very decisive five rounds in a row. That forced a Gen.G timeout, which the Pacific Kickoff winners hoped would right the ship. It did just that,giving them their first round.
It looked unsuccessful after that, however, as EDG continued to put up rounds.Gen.G fought back, though. Nothing flashy, just some standard and effective VALORANT from both teams leading into halftime. EDG hung on to a four round lead as they switched to defense.
An attempted comeback looked very possible for Gen.G in the second half. It would not come to fruition, as EDG stood tall on their defense. Whatever Gen.G threw at them, ZmjjKK and company were ready with an answer. It did not take long at all for EDG to reach map point on their opponent’s pick.
In what we all thought would be a fairly close contest, EDG dominated.Massive utility investmentprevented the next round from being the end, but the cost was too much for Gen.G. Their economy was not in a place to push back further, and EDG went up in the series.
Map 2: Split
A Team Ace started Split for EDG. And while they got the second, Gen.G was able to take the third. Momentum was not immediately created here, as EDward Gamingtook advantage of a strange roundwhere nobody stuck the defuse. Fortunately for Gen.G, it didn’t disrupt their plan.
Gen.G snagged their first lead of the series. And they ran with it.Plays from Meteorkept them pushing ahead on their attacking side. Leave it to ZmjjKKto take out four Gen.G playersto keep EDG from falling too far behind. A half-ending Ace by t3xture ensured a small lead for Gen.G, however.
With a man-advantage, EDG looked ready to take the second half pistol. A huge stop byt3xture with a 4Kdenied that. Gen.G were racing to the third map against EDward Gaming. They easily got to double digits with an unbreakable defensive side.
Not surprisingly at all, another 3K by t3xture got his team to 11 rounds, forcing EDG to take a timeout. That timeout did not help them. Meteor got Gen.G to map pointwith some precision Blade Storm killsas Jett.
Map 3: Breeze
Gen.G carried the fire over into Breeze. A Flawless pistol round was theirs. Though they could not convert their bonus, they came right back to prevent EDG from tying it. And for the following rounds, EDG looked lost. Everything Gen.G did seemed tosurprise them to the fullest.
A3K from lakiaafter an EDG timeout seemed to shut down any hope for them to catch up before halftime. Lakia kept it up with the Hunter’s Fury, planted the Spike, and made a usually top tier EDG look foolish. Gen.G reached the half with 11 rounds to their name.
EDward Gaming started the second half with a round victory. It was only their second, however, and they had a long way to go to. Well, it didn’t look completely hopeless as they soon claimed their fourth round of Breeze.
A collateral kill by ZmjjKKstarted off the sixth round victory for EDG. It was never plausible that they’d come back, but it was certainly possible. Three kills from Karon was a deafening, “No!” to any comeback attempt, though. One more round was all it took, and Gen.G won it defiantly.
