As the first chapter ofDoctor Who’s season 15 finale draws closer, returning companion actor Millie Gibson addresses a rising fan theory that ties her character to Archie Panjabi’s rogue Time Lady the Rani. After Ncuti Gatwa’s Fifteenth Doctor and latest companion Belinda Chandra (Varada Sethu) bring their extended journey back home to Earth to a close,“Wish World” will see themarrive on a vastly altered world due to the Rani’s interference. Ruby’s Wish May Not Be As It Seems
With Gibson’s response, many fans may feel confident that their theory could be true, but it may not be the way they expected. When developing Ruby’s story arc, showrunner Russell T Davies stated that he wrote it partly as a response to theStar Warssequel trilogy, specifically regarding howThe Rise of Skywalkerretconned Rey’s (Daisy Ridley) parentage to turn her from part of an unremarkable family to the heir of the Palpatine bloodline. As such, it is unlikely that Davies would go back on his decision, especially asRuby’s arc had been written before fans responded.
Rather, “Wish World” may see Ruby being forced into a reality where her having ties to the Rani was the case to fulfill what it assumes to be her wish, breaking up the family that she had just foundafter leaving the TARDISonly a year prior.
