Settle the oceans in Rising Tide

Sid Meier’s Civilization: Beyond Earthcame out last year, and although I loved it, a lot of the series’ hardcore fans picked it apart as being less complex than past entries. Though it doesn’t nearly address every complaint, the newly announced expansionRising Tidedoes aim to up the complexity a bit.

Included in the expansion are four new factions to play as and two new biomes to explore. The diplomacy system is getting an upgrade and alien relics are given more importance. There will be more reason to mix and match Affinities now, with units only available to those with hybrid Affinity. What looks like the biggest change to gameplay is the ability to create oceanbound settlements, able to collect resources from the middle of the seas. To balance this out a bit, it looks like there are some new aquatic xenos to fend against.
