A few hours after their surprising reveal, BTS has shared more details about the upcoming EEU DPC Playoffs.
Beyond the Summit has revealed additional details about the upcoming EEU DPC. With Valve officially announcing the tournament late yesterday evening (April 25th), tournament organizer BTS unveiled the format and other information about the event.
Crucially, the post confirmed that while primarily the event would be focused on Division I teams, Division II teams wouldn’t be left behind, with the Div 2 teams competing at a later date. The Division I teams will compete in an 8-team double-elimination bracket, with the top two teams qualifying for the Major.
The 3rd-6th place teams will then compete in an additional bracket to determine the third and final team to head to Stockholm. Overall, the tournament looks to be a highly sped-up version of theDPCleague,as expected.

Additionally, the organizer confirmed in alater postthat competing teams would also be rewarded DPC points for the tournament. This will be in lieu of the DPC season proper.
VP to play EEU DPC Playoffs to play under alias
One element missing from the official announcement is the matter of Russian teams. It seems like Virtus.pro at least will not be able to compete under their organization’s banner. Instead, the VP roster will compete as the Outsiders. This is the same mantle the organization’s CS:GO team has opted to play under recently.
Beyond this, several Russian organizations generally seem to be in some kind of turmoil heading into the event. For example, Hellraisers only recently resigned their teamon the day the tournament was announced.
Meanwhile, Winstrike Teamreleased their roster last month. The team will play under theBetBoom Team bannerfor this event.
But Russia isn’t the only team with some roster turmoil. Natus Vincere will be missing Ilya “ALOHADANCE” Korobkin for currently undisclosed reasons. Instead, they’ll field Georgii “swedenstrong” Zainalabidov, who previously played for Excellent Esports and Azimut.
Overall, this replacement tournament may not be everything EEU fans hoped for. However, it’s comforting to know we’ll see some EEU Dota after a long break.
