Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) is one of the most popular battle royale titles in the South Asian country. If you don’t have the game installed on your device, you may do so by manually downloading the APK and OBB files.
While BGMI wasblockedby India’s ministry of electronics and IT on August 01, 2025, Krafton has still kept the servers open and people can play the game. Currently, the only effect of the block order by the Indian government is that the game has been removed from the Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store.

While you can currently play BGMI by downloading the APK and OBB files, the game has been blocked by India’s ministry of electronics and IT. An exact reason behind this hasn’t been revealed, though. A Reuters report, however, said that it was because of alleged data sharing with China.
The ministry recently confirmed that it was in communication with Krafton. It remains to be seen if the game is brought back.
As a result of the blockage, no new updates are coming to BGMI as well. The game is stuck on Update 2.1, which was released in July 2022. Meanwhile, the global version of BGMI, called PUBG Mobile, has jumped on to Update 2.2 which has brought a lot of new features, including a brand-new battle royale map called Nusa.
