Streisand writes of her childhood in New York and her struggles to become an actress, per the book’s description, where she worked in nightclubs until she landed the role of Fanny Brice in the original Broadway production ofFunny Girl.
Streisand also details the stories behind recording many of her celebrated albums, making the movieYentl(whose40th anniversary deluxe soundtrackwas released on Oct. 27), and her friendships with celebrities likeMarlon Brando. She also writes of her marriage to actorJames Brolin.

Late night talk show hostStephen Colbertwill also appear on the audiobook, where he will introduce the book and read the end credits.Penguin Random House Audio reports that the audiobook, at 48 hours long, is the longest audiobook that the publisher has ever produced, and that it’s “a true testament to Barbra’s incredible life and career.”
