This WWW may not look much like a mathematical function at first glance , but it is . Instead of single-valued function physical geography , though , this single-valued function chart where in the world mass are moving to and from , to give us a snapshot looking at the worldwide migration blueprint over 20 years .

The map was create as part of paper published this week in Science by researchers from the Wittgenstein Centre for Demography and Global Human Capital . Researchers used data published by the UN collected through a mixture of study and census . Then , they ran that data through software intended for use in creating genetic science visualizations . The result was this map :
Curiously , although the phone number of migrants changed throughout the long time , researcher constitute that the percentage of migration worldwide has remained comparatively constant since 1990 ( the period researcher began take care at the data ) at around 0.6 % of the earthly concern ’s full population .
The low decimal point , between 1995 - 2000 , researcher say , can be calculate for by world conflicts , include those in Rwanda and Afghanistan . Post-1995 , however , the percentage stabilized .
